Antique typographic Celestial Chart map by Andreas Cellarius



A superb reproduction of an ancient celestial chart of the universe by German born Dutch cartographer Andreas Cellarius created in 1708. 

This decorative map is based on the theories of the third century Greek astronomer Aratus, in which the Earth is at the center of the celestial universe with the Sun and Moon orbiting around it. Read more here.

The Latin language hand lettered map is titled: Planisphaerium Arateum sive Compages Orbium Mundanorum ex hypothesi Aratea in plano expressa.
